Why did King Living design a customisable mattress collection?

The legacy of the King Living brand began with our modular sofas that are known for their customisation and ability to adapt to your life today and in the future. As comfort experts, developing a customisable mattress collection was a natural progression that builds on our years of comfort engineering experience. 

Designing mattress comfort zones

As part of our dedication to comfort we created the Sleep+ Mattress Collection with five specialised zones.   

The different spring densities within each zone encourage a neutral spine and prevent that ‘hammock’ feeling (where the whole mid-section sags)  common in low quality mattresses.  

• Zone one runs through the centre of the mattress and offers a much deeper spring.  
• Zones two and three run through your midsection, where your chest and the top of your legs lay.   
• Zones four and five are at the end of the mattress where your lower legs and feet are positioned. 

What is a modular mattress?

A modular mattress is comprised of varying layers that can be removed, added, or adjusted to suit various needs from support, soft and firm preferences and options for cooler or warmer sleepers.   

A modular mattress system is one of the most comfortable mattress options as it can adapt to fit your needs as they develop. Every Sleep+ Mattress offers four settings ranging from very soft to very firm. To activate these settings, you simply unzip the layers and reverse the springs and comfort layers to your suit preference.  

A modular design is one of the best mattresses to choose for futureproofing. You can spend time testing the comfort of mattresses in retail showrooms, but there is no guarantee how comfortable you feel after the first few weeks with your new mattress. A modular mattress brings the security of knowing your comfort needs will be met.

What customisation options does the Sleep+ Collection have?

As a customisable mattress collection, Sleep+ Mattresses truly adapt to your needs, with each layer working to create lasting, personalised comfort.  

Top Layer - Fit Cover Layers

Removable and interchangeable to suit the seasons and your preferences, there are three Fit Cover options. Each layer option is made from breathable fabric and engineered to regulate temperature, helping you to stay comfortable all year around. 

• CoolFit® features Japanese gel-infused fibres designed to draw heat away from the body. 
• WarmFit® features an integrated electric blanket. 
• AirFit® maximises air circulation for year-round comfort. 

The AirFit® layer comes with every Sleep+ Mattress and CoolFit® and WarmFit® are optional extras.  

Second Layer - Comfort Layers

Comfort layers are fully reversible, with each side of the layer offering a firmer and softer level of support that best suits you, and are available in memory foam, latex, or a hybrid option.  

You can select from:  

• Dual-density gel memory foam with a reversible softer and firmer side that helps distribute your weight evenly, increasing blood circulation. 
• Dual-density latex with a reversible softer and firmer side, which offers a luxuriously soft and uplifting feel that helps relieve pressure points and joint pain. 
• Hybrid combination that offers the best of both worlds with higher density natural latex on one side and softer memory foam on the other.
• Premium firm that is made with firmer, denser foams, ideal if you love a firm, more solid and supportive sleeping surface.

Third Layer - Removable Mesh Cover

The removable mesh cover easily unzips to access the pocket spring coil base, while providing structural support and promoting air circulation.

Fourth Layer - Optional FlexMat

Every person has different preferences when it comes to the feel of their mattress, and it can be a challenge if you share your bed with someone who has different needs to you. The FlexMat allows you to customise each side of the mattress to a different level of firmness and help to provide comfort to both you and your partner’s preferences. 

Fifth Layer - Spring Base

The Spring Base features individually wrapped and zoned KingCell® pocket coil springs for optimum support. 

Sixth Layer - KingFlex Base

The foundation of the Sleep+ Mattress, the KingFlex Base provides structural integrity to the walls of the mattress while remaining flexible and supportive.

Can a Sleep+ Mattress be cleaned and is it suitable for asthmatics?

As a fully modular mattress, the Sleep+ Collection offers the unique ability to remove each part to access the inside of the mattress for a truly deep clean. With regular mattresses, there is no way to vacuum inside the mattress, wash the different layers and remove dust mites.   

The top layer of a Sleep+ Mattress is fully machine washable. While it is important for everyone to be sleeping in a clean, dust-free, and hygienic environment, for anyone asthmatic, it revolutionises the cleaning options available to you.   

The entire Sleep+ Mattress is designed to be breathable. It is highly advised not to purchase a mattress protector as this will stop your Sleep+ Mattress from breathing properly.
