The Opportunity This is a casual position and requires availability up to 3 days per week initially with opportunity to increase hours in the future.
We are seeking a motivated and creative
Design Intern to join our
Design Development Team, reporting to the Design Development Manager.
Working closely with Designers and Senior Designers, you will support the development, improvement and reinvigoration of King Living’s product portfolio. This role provides hands-on exposure across the full design development lifecycle — from early-stage concept sketches and visualisations through to prototype-ready CAD models, testing, and supporting documentation.
This internship offers a valuable opportunity to build commercial design experience within a globally recognised brand while contributing to real projects that impact our product range.
The Role - Assist in the development of product information packs to support cross-functional communication.
- Support the creation of Product Services manuals for Customer Service teams and service technicians.
- Assist with prototype procurement, fabrication, assembly and testing in line with global standards.
- Contribute to the preparation of assembly instructions, spare parts lists and visual aids.
- Support collaboration with Retail, Engineering and Manufacturing teams on product updates and specification changes.
- Adhere to King Living’s New Product Development phase gate process.
- Contribute to concept generation and clearly visualise design ideas through sketches and CAD.
- Assist with range and product analysis to inform future design development opportunities.
- Work collaboratively with local and overseas production teams and internal stakeholders.
About You - A design student or recent graduate with a strong interest in product and furniture design.
- Confident in hand sketching, rendering and 3D CAD (SolidWorks preferred).
- Proficient in Adobe Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop.
- Foundational knowledge of production and mass-manufacturing techniques.
- Understanding of material performance and selection principles.
- Organised and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Collaborative, proactive and eager to contribute to team success.
- Able to dedicate a minimum of two days per week if completing university studies.
