David King and his mother Gwen began crafting foam chairs in their family home in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs and selling them at Paddy's Market — laying the foundation for what would become a global brand and household name.

A game-changer in sofa design

The first sofa featuring the King Steel Frame and the patented Postureflex® Seating System was introduced, setting new standards in durability and comfort.

Opening the doors to the first showroom

The first King Living showroom opens in Annandale, in Sydney’s inner west. Still operating today, it remains a flagship location.

A revolution in flexible design

The Delta Sofa was released and celebrated for its flexible, modular design which was like no other furniture at the time.

Australia's most awarded sofa

The first iteration of the Jasper Sofa was introduced. Jasper is Australia's most awarded sofa and remains a best-seller two decades later. This year also saw the opening of the King Living Shanghai manufacturing facility.

Reaching new shores

King Living expands internationally, with the opening of showrooms in Auckland, New Zealand, and Singapore, marking the beginning of a global presence.

A new market in Asia

The flagship Malaysian showroom opened in Kuala Lumpur’s IPC Centre, followed by a second location in Bangsar, bringing King Living to the heart of Southeast Asia.

The first North American showroom opens in Vancouver, Canada, further establishing the brand’s global footprint.
